999 Challenge

Anyone up for a book challenge?

The 999 Challenge is simple. Read 9 books each in 9 different categories in 2009 for a total of 91 books. If you're really crazy (like I am) you can try to finish this by 09/09/09. I said SIMPLE not easy.

I've picked my categories but not my books.

1. 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die
2. Already Owned
3. Jodi Picoult
4. Favorite Authors
5. NY Times Best Sellers
6. Pulitzers
7. Recommendations
8. Published before 2009
9. Readers Choice

I probably won't stick to a certain list of books because I picked my categories to allow for flexibility. I'm weird like that.

Anyone else wanna play? Come on, it'll be fun.

One Little Word 2009

My one little word for 2009 is mindful.

attentive, aware, heedful, regardful or careful

1375–1425; late ME

Living in the present moment can be a glorious thing and being mindful helps me live in the present moment. Have you picked one little word for 2009?

No Edge

I think it's sad there isn't an edge of the earth because I think I'd really like to go there. Have a drink maybe. Just kinda sit at the edge of the earth, dangle my feet over and think about stuff. I think sitting at the edge of the earth, with a drink in your hand, would be conducive to thinking of ways to make things better.

And if I couldn't think of ways to make things better, then I could just jump off. It'd be a win win really, if the earth were flat. As it stands, all I can do is pour another Purple Hooter Shooter and walk around in circles.

Damn this planet and all its roundness.

Wordless Wednesday

Not exactly wordless, but it's my blog and I tend to not follow rules or play well with others so there you have it.

I've been sorting and tagging all of my digital stuff for the past few weeks since my mojo left and I'm too lazy to go look for it anymore and I came across this beauty.

It tugs at my heartstrings and I can't imagine my life without her. I never knew I could love someone so much until she came along. And the crazy part is she loves me back. Who knew?

My Family

For the past several years my family has opted to give to charity rather than give gifts to each other for Christmas. Even though we are not exchanging gifts I made something for my family. Yeah, it cost a little bit of money but more importantly it is handmade. I've been trying to get them to do handmade gifts for years so maybe this will finally convince them that it doesn't mean baking from scratch or sewing an outfit with a needle and thread. LOL I created this 'family portrait' of us and am having it printed for each of us. Don't tell, it's a secret.
